Dr Steve is a clinical psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working with adults, children and teenagers, treating a wide range of issues, from common life stressors through to severe mental illness. Stephen has worked across a range of mental health settings, including hospitals, community health centres and private practices. 


Stephen has extensive experience working with children and adolescents, having worked for over 10 years for local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, treating young people with severe and complex mental health disorders including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, anxiety disorders, attachment disorders and pervasive developmental disorders.


Stephen has also worked extensively with adults, working for many years in private psychology practices in the area. Stephen has a particular interest in anxiety disorders, depression and bipolar disorders. Stephen is trained in a range of psychological therapy techniques, including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). 


Stephen is a Psychology Board of Australia accredited supervisor for all forms of supervision in psychology. Stephen is well-recognised in the Newcastle area, providing supervision to other psychologists, lecturing and teaching postgraduate students, and providing clinical leadership to staff across a range of services.


Stephen has also held several leadership and senior management roles in local psychology services, and can provide coaching / mentoring for other professionals aiming to develop their efficiency and effectiveness. 


Stephen has a keen research interest, particularly in the area of bipolar disorder, and has published a number of research studies in this field, funded by national research grant schemes. Stephen is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) College of Clinical Psychologists and was an invited reviewer for the recent APS publication “Evidence-Based Psychological Interventions in the Treatment of Mental Disorders”.

Amir is especially passionate about leadership and supporting individuals and organisations to build psychologically safe, values-driven environments. What energises him most is witnessing the “aha” moments - when someone shifts from just surviving to creating a life that feels aligned, meaningful, and sustainable.


Outside of work, Amir enjoys Newcastle’s coastal lifestyle, regular gym sessions, and spending quality time with his family. A former photographer, he still loves capturing life through a unique lens, whether that’s behind a camera or by helping someone reframe their story. He’s also an adventurer at heart, always keen to explore new cultures and cuisines.

Dr. Madeleine deVille is a compassionate and highly experienced clinical psychologist dedicated to supporting individuals through life’s challenges. With a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2008) and nearly two decades of experience across public and private mental health settings, research, and clinical supervision, she brings a wealth of expertise to her work with both children and adults. Maddie provides therapy in individual, family, and group settings, tailoring her approach to each client’s unique needs.


Maddie has a special interest in anxiety, depression, and complex trauma, offering evidence-based therapy grounded in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. She has worked extensively with a range of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, psychosis, OCD, and childhood developmental disorders. As a board-approved supervisor, she is also passionate about mentoring and training the next generation of psychologists.


Dr. deVille is available for appointments on Tuesdays. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys raising her two children, doting on her beloved cats, spending quality time with family and friends—and indulging in the occasional bit of trashy TV!

Grace has experience working in private practice, an inpatient hospital and a community mental health centre. She works with clients presenting with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, work stress, personality disorders, addictions and post-traumatic stress disorder. 


Grace delivers neuro-affirming care in the assessment and treatment of neurodivergent conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Grace has a passion for research and evidence-based practice, with a background working in psycho-oncology research. Grace’s master’s research project was centred on the help-seeking intentions of young people living in families impacted by mental illness. Grace has now published up to 16 research papers in leading psychology and medical journals.

Jarrod is a Clinical Psychologist passionate about delivering client-centred, evidence-based psychological therapy tailored to each individual's unique needs and circumstances.

Jasmine also has experience and enjoys working with people from the LGBTQIA+ community.


Jasmine has a special interest in supporting people of all ages with Autism, ADHD, Intellectual disabilities, specific learning disorders (such as dyslexia), and trauma history. She is trained and experienced in assessing and diagnosing a range of neurodevelopmental and learning conditions, such as ADHD assessment and intervention, and supporting clients with mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and complex trauma.

Outside of work, Jasmine is passionate about learning from our Indigenous elders and reconnecting to our wild ancestry by spending time in nature bushwalking, swimming, and star-gazing. She also enjoys singing and making music.

Daniel is a provisionally registered psychologist who is passionate about supporting people through life’s challenges with empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based care. He works with clients across the lifespan and is particularly interested in helping individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and those who identify as neurodivergent.


Daniel’s therapeutic approach is warm, client-centred, and grounded in fostering self-awareness, reducing distress, and building practical coping strategies. What he enjoys most about his work is connecting with people from all walks of life, helping them work through their struggles, and watching them grow into greater self-understanding and resilience.


Daniel is currently completing his Master of Professional Psychology at the University of Newcastle. His diverse background includes working in Employment Services, where he supported young adults in overcoming barriers to meaningful employment, and in school settings, where he helped students with learning and mental wellbeing. He is especially passionate about assisting young adults and their families to navigate life’s transitional stages with clarity and confidence.


Alongside his psychology work, Daniel also offers support and psychosocial recovery coaching - empowering clients to build independence, develop life skills, and pursue personal goals in a way that feels meaningful to them.

Ellise has experience in both the public and private sector, and works with children, adolescents, and adults. She has experience working with a range of presentations including anxiety and mood disorders, ADHD, chronic pain, and other mental health conditions. She is skilled in conducting psychometric assessments for children and adults.

Ellise holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP) and is in her final 6 months of completing a Master of Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University. She holds provisional registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychology Association (APS).

Outside of work, Ellise enjoys spending time with her friends and family, listening to true crime podcasts and snuggling up with her ragdoll cat.

Prior to joining New Ability Health, Michael was the OT Team Leader at Early Links, and has also worked extensively across brain injury rehabilitation, community rehabilitation in the UK, home modifications, aged care, and more.


Michael has a special interest in early childhood, body awareness (interoception), trauma, and attachment. He is particularly passionate about helping little people make sense of what's happening inside them and supporting them to do what’s most meaningful in their lives. He also enjoys working with dads and creating inclusive, empowering spaces for the whole family.


In addition to his clinical work, Michael is a published author in the British Journal of Occupational Therapy, and is always exploring new ways to deepen his understanding of human connection and development.

What Danielle enjoys most about her work is the opportunity to make meaningful connections with clients and to walk alongside them in their journey to meeting their goals.


Danielle brings a wealth of experience from her work at Lake Macquarie and Warners Bay Private Hospitals, where she has supported a wide variety of patients in both acute and rehabilitation settings. She has also been part of the New Ability Health team for more than four years, beginning her journey with the company as an Allied Health Assistant. In a fun twist of fate, Danielle’s first interview for the role was conducted by Katie Hirneth—who had once been her high school music teacher at the Hunter School of the Performing Arts.


Danielle is passionate about helping individuals realise the power of exercise in improving their health and well-being. She also spent her final year of study in Port Macquarie on a rural health program with the University of Newcastle, where she established invaluable relationships and developed a deep appreciation for rural allied health services and communities.


When she isn’t at work, Danielle loves to exercise, cook, read, and spend time at the beach with her husband and their dog, Willis.

She has worked in diverse settings such as aged care facilities, private practice, and the community. Katie also supports clients with complex physical and mental disabilities.

Since graduating as a Dietitian in 2022, Jessica has been dedicated to promoting better health through nutrition. Her work in public health has allowed her to focus particularly on the nutritional needs of primary school-aged children. Jessica's approach is centered on creating supportive environments where children can learn and adopt healthy eating habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.


Jessica's interests include: child and adolescent nutrition (fussy eating, growth issues, disordered eating etc), supporting families to create healthy eating habits and general healthy eating. Her work is characterised by a compassionate and holistic approach, aiming not just to address immediate nutritional concerns, but also to instil lasting positive behaviours and attitudes towards food.
